The VMT Engineering and QC departments are focused on meeting the needs of VMT’s military and commercial customers. VMT has maintained a continuous and close working relationship with numerous US Naval design activities including Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD), and various Naval Shipyards. Also, VMT engineers have worked extensively with civilian shipyards including
Bath Iron Works, Ingalls Shipbuilding, Newport News
Shipbuilding, and Electric Boat, as well as prime

contractors and naval consultants, including Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc., John J. MacMullen & Associates, and Gibbs and Cox. It is through this extensive experience that VMT’s engineers have gained considerable insight and working knowledge of naval piping system design practices, fabrication techniques, test protocols, and quality control requirements.

VMT’s engineers are familiar with those aspects of the naval environment that impose extreme requirements on the design and manufacturing process. These include:

• MIL-S-901 Shock
• MIL-STD-167 Vibration
• MIL-STD-461 EMI
• MIL-STD-740-1 and MIL-STD-1474 Airborne Noise
• MIL-STD-740-2 Structureborne Noise
• Fluidborne Noise
• NAVSEA S9074-AR-GIB-010/278 Welding
